The investigation found money in the minister’s toilet
A stash with six million rubles was found as a result of a search carried out in the apartment of the detained Minister of Health of the Altai Republic Sergei Kovalenko. “Lenta.ru” reports that the stash was in the toilet.
Investigative measures against Minister Kovalenko and his assistant are being carried out within the framework of a criminal case. They are suspected of accepting a bribe in especially large size. The origin of the money remains unknown.
“Several criminal cases have been initiated against the Minister of Health of the Altai Republic Sergei Kovalenko and his assistant Rustam Tuyunchekov. They are suspected of committing a crime under paragraphs “a”, “c” of Part 5 of Art. 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Taking a bribe”), as well as two crimes under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code (“Taking a bribe committed by an organized group on an especially large scale”). According to preliminary data, Kovalenko and Tuyunchekov have repeatedly received bribes from the management of three commercial organizations totaling about 4.6 million rubles”, the TASS press service explained.
According to the investigation, Kovalenko and his assistant took bribes from July to December 2020, in exchange for money, they ensured victory in tenders for public procurement of medical equipment to combat coronavirus.
Of course, this is not the first case of taking bribes during the pandemic. Instead of creating decent working conditions for medical workers, helping the sick in the difficult conditions of a pandemic, bureaucratic theft is flourishing.
“Servants of the people” once again showed their priorities and aspirations – money, money and money again.
