President Vladimir Putin submitted for consideration to the State Duma bill No. 960545-7 on amendments to the law “On Education in the Russian Federation”, Izvestia reports. The amendments relate to the strengthening of the upbringing component of the education system: the concept of “upbringing” is expanded, and requirements for its organization are being introduced.
“Now, upbringing is an activity aimed at personality development, creating conditions for self-determination and socialization of students on the basis of sociocultural, spiritual and moral values and the rules and norms of behavior accepted in Russian society in the interests of a person, family, society and the state, the formation of students’ feelings of patriotism and citizenship, respect for the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and heroes of the Fatherland, for law and order, for working people and for the older generation, for mutual respect, for respect of the cultural heritage and traditions of the multinational people of the Russian Federation, for nature and the environment”(new in italics – Ed.).
Upbrining, of course, is a good thing. The memory of the defenders and heroes of the Fatherland must be respected. The man of labor must be respected. It is also necessary to take care of the cultural heritage and the environment.
However, in bourgeois Russia now state channels call general Krasnov a Hero. “Inspirational” films about the war criminal Kolchak are shot on state money. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Russian Military Historical Society, the memory of Hitler’s accomplice Mannerheim is “carefully preserved”. Many more examples of the “new heroes” of modern Russia can be cited.
A respected “man of labor” under capitalism is an oligarch. After all, a working person should receive decent money for their work, and according to one of the leaders of the state in the rank of Prime Minister, “a Teacher is a Mission. And if you want to earn money, there are many wonderful places where you can do it faster and better. Business, for example“.
Education, upbringing, culture – all this works in the interests of the ruling class in any state. And if this class is bourgeoisie, then children will be educated everything that capitalism is characterized with: individualism, careerism, a reverent attitude to private property, and the desire to derive personal profit. After all, these are the qualities that are necessary for maintaining the power of big capital, for the unhindered exploitation of the working people.
