According to Fontanka, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov doubted that there is such a thing like 10,800 ruble salaries. He explained that this might be a certain part of the salary but the data needed to be clarified
The question was asked during the opening ceremony of the monument to Anatoly Sobchak in Saint Petersburg. Peskov noted that it is not worth making general conclusions about the incomes of Russian citizens on the basis of individual examples. He suggested that it is necessary to deal separately in each case.
“Well, in Russia the minimum wage is 12,130 rubles. Supposing everyone rises to this level, the question still is: how then to live on 12,130 rubles a month? ” – the journalist asked a counter question
Peskov said that he could not answer this question, and this is hardly included in his functions. He continued the thought by telling the audience about the planned increase in living standards and incomes. The intention was expressed, he said, in the message of the head of state to the Federal Assembly.
Meanwhile, two years ago, the salary of a teacher could be 8,000 rubles – such data was received by ROT FRONT from residents of Novgorod region. And in October 2019 it was published that senior lecturers of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in Novosibirsk earn only 115 rubles per hour, and not all of them take full-time jobs.
Unfortunately, the problem of non-payment of wages is also very acute. So, in Saratov, the workers of Neftemash-Sapkon JSC for several months demanded that the administration pay money for their work. The same fate befell the miners of Gukovo, who for three years fought against the management of Kingcoal LLC for the owed 120 million rubles.
Officials also joined in the confrontation, taking the side of the enterprise administrations. At the end of February 2020, a working group of the State Council proposed decriminalizing non-payment of wages to workers.
Supporting big business in all endeavors leads to a “loss of sensitivity”: top-level officials cannot imagine that up to this day workers get paid by the socks they produced and are forced to sell them after work. Those who live without realising how much pain they afflict to people, they will not notice when the people decide to fight back.
