In Novosibirsk, on April 8, from 2pm to 11:59pm a strike of taxi drivers will take place. According to the protesters, the cause of the conflict was the reduction of Yandex company surcharges for 35 completed trips from 7,270 to 4,900 rubles.
Today, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic (on 04/07/2020 in Novosibirsk, there were eleven confirmed cases of virus infection), many employers are forced to somehow cut the costs. In this case, due to the lockdown regime in cities, the number of taxi calls has sharply decreased. The protesters explained that the driver needs to pay the cost of fuel, lunch, etc. out of these payments. Moreover, the passenger number quote itself is extremely difficult to fulfill in the current conditions.
Reduction in salaries, layoffs and bankruptcy. Such news can be seen today around the world and Russia is no exception. Unfortunately, in the near future the situation is unlikely to improve and the contradictions will escalate more and more. The employer, of course, will try to save his profit by reducing the wages of employees. In such cases, unionization and strikes remain the only option for workers.
