Maria Zakharova demanded that the rich “respect” Russia
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reproached some “very rich Russians” whose children are allegedly trying to return from London to Russia. According to Zakharova, these people “had their foreign insurances canceled”, and now they want “to only get to Russia, only to Russia!” The diplomat said that the wealthy Russians were “fooled” by the Western propaganda and demanded respect from them for Russia and its people. It would be great to ask Maria Vladimirovna: does she herself respect our country and people? After all, it was her power that “reset” affordable healthcare for millions of Russians.
Zakharova made her statement on Facebook. She allegedly refered to a telephone dialogue with some wealthy Russians. The rich were going to send a private plane “for the boy”, because in London he “had his medical insurance rejected”, and now there are “no obligations”. According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these abstract people “became fools and paid with gold for momentary pleasures … instead of supporting their country and their people, which with titanic efforts, patience and love restored the state after the collapse of the USSR and the collapse of the 90s”. After making an ironic statement about “dusty” Russian passports of these people, Zakharova ended up: “Please begin with the basics – respect for the country and its people”.
Zakharova’s speech is propagandistically strong, but completely harmless, since the diplomat did not give any names and generally stated that she “did not know the opponents”. Thus, all the pathos turns nowhere. Zakharova generally rarely dares to jump on those in power; as an exception, you may recall, perhaps, her public dispute with Anatoly Chubais, whom she blamed on the poverty of Russians. The dispute had no consequences and, apparently, was started for the sake of self-promotion. The point is that that the “patriotic” tone of Zakharova is a completely fake.
The Russian government is merged together with the very oligarchs whose children live and study abroad. Many large business people who control key sectors of the Russian economy have dual citizenship, and this does not encounter any obstacles in the Kremlin. It comes to the point that these oligarchs resolve their property disputes over privatized Russian property in the courts of the United States of America. And if the President is wrong in some way, the oligarchs are not shy about correcting him … Moreover, the top officials themselves are closely connected with foreign countries. The wife of Zakharova’s boss Sergey Lavrov lived and worked in the USA for a long time. The grandson of the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, lives in London, and the daughter of presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov lives in Paris. The daughters of Vladimir Putin more than once were seen in Italy. The list goes on … And this is the power that Maria Zakharova serves.
By the way, the political views of Zakharova also deserve attention. In January 2020, a scandal erupted around her long-standing phrase in social networks: “suffered enough” from Stalin. Speaking of comparing Stalin and Hitler, Zakharova stated that “leaders who destroyed their people burn in hell twice as bright as those who destroyed a stranger”. The journalist Konstantin Semin drew attention to this, which led to a public dispute. The questions addressed to Zakharova remained unanswered.
This same government over the past thirty years has consistently “nullified” domestic health care. The consequences of this we are all experiencing at the moment. Where is your noble fury now, Ms Zakharova?
