According to the results of 2018, the amount of damage suffered by the environment from oil pollution increased to 5.1 billion rubles compared to 2017, when this indicator amounted to 1 billion rubles. This was reported by the news agency “Izvestia” with reference to the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The bulk of the violations occurred in enterprises operating in the Siberian, Ural and Southern Federal Districts. At the same time, companies operating in the southern and central parts of Russia caused the greatest damage to nature. According to Rosprirodnadzor, the main reasons for the increase in the number of accidents are the deterioration of equipment of enterprises and pipelines, as well as non-compliance with the rules of operation of equipment and illegal tapping into the pipeline.
Reducing costs has always been the main way to increase profits, and capitalism has turned this idea into an absolute. Trying to increase their wealth, capitalists often ignore the simplest precautions. For example, they mostly do not diagnose existing equipment or ignore problems that were discovered earlier, resulting in massive breakthroughs in pipelines that have not been repaired since the Soviet Union.
Innocent people and animals who were not lucky enough to live near the accident site suffer from management errors. Damage to nature cannot be measured in money, and while people who don’t take responsibility for the results of their policies stay in power, humanity will keep moving towards extinction with greater and greater speed.
