Blagoveshchensk medical trade union was refused meeting due to coronavirus

The management of the ambulance station in Blagoveshchensk did not allow union activists to hold a meeting. As the main reason for this the station head doctor calls the threat of the coronavirus spread.

According to the press secretary of the trade union of health workers “Action” Andrei Konoval, a conflict erupted at the ambulance station. It is associated with the employer’s unwillingness to negotiate collectively and the intention to oppose the work of the trade union.

The situation is heating up to the point that they are trying to prevent the union from developing a strategy for the empoyees’ interests,” Andrei Konoval said.

In connection with these events, an expanded meeting of the trade union committee was to be held at the station with the participation of officials from the regional Ministry of Health and journalists. But Igor Nikishov, the chief physician of Blagoveshchensk emergency medical care, considered it necessary to refuse to provide the union with premises for such a meeting, referring to the “unfavorable sanitary and epidemiological situation in the world” caused by the emergence of a “new coronavirus infection”.

Coronavirus is undoubtedly a serious threat to the world community. The disease has taken many lives, and so far it has not been possible to stop the spread of the threat.

Each state is taking emergency measures to protect its citizens. However, unfortunately, we can also see attempts by unscrupulous employers to quietly resolve a labor conflict in their favor.

Indeed, whatever one may say, the coronavirus pandemic does not cancel the already existing internal contradictions of the capitalist system; rather, on the contrary, it exacerbates them. The number of labor conflicts in all sectors, including health care, has been growing over the past few years, which indicates a gradual intensification of the crisis of the capitalist system and the approach of its collapse. In this situation, the owners of the means of production have to protect in every way both the property acquired by robbing the working people, and their privileged position.

And, as we see from the example described above, all means are good for the goal achievement.
